The compact FlareSafe travel product was conceived by FlareBrands Ltd. and developed by AW Technology. The design challenge was to combine a high performance fire detector, attack alarm and powerful torch, all running from two alkaline batteries, with a backup lithium cell. 

A single chip microcomputer controls all functions. The piezoelectric alarm and white LED torch are realised using independent voltage converters with very high power efficiency. The smoke detector is based around a miniature sensing chamber and analogue signal processing, and operates at a power consumption of less than 50 microwatts to achieve a very long battery life.

FlareBrands are extremely happy with the outcome of the project and FlareSafe is now in production. They are getting an excellent response to this innovative life safety product which is proving to be a success both in the UK and internationally.
